David Cage to Receive France’s Legion d’Honneur
David Cage, writer and director of 2013’s Beyond: Two Souls for the PS3, is set to receive the Legion d’Honneur – one of France’s highest decorations, according to French publication Le Figaro. Of the 94,807 awarded since its inception in the early 19th century, none from the video game industry have yet received the honor. But in March of this year, at the age of 44, David Cage is expected to be bestowed with “Chevalier” (Knight) status in France.
According to the source via Google Translate, Cage “made his first video game in 1997 with The Nomad Soul, whose music was specially composed by David Bowie.” Since then, he’s helped create a number of other acclaimed video games including Fahrenheit, Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. Cage’s current projects are unknown, but a recent tech demo from his studio, Quantic Dream, indicates PS4 development is likely well underway.
