Tales From The Borderlands Project by Telltale Games and Gearbox
Telltale Games, famous for The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, are teaming up with Gearbox to put a new spin on Borderlands. A teaser trailer viewable on Telltale’s Youtube shows us a glimpse into the Borderlands universe with a new story featuring a woman named Fiona. It’s clear she’s not a vault hunter, as Marcus (NO REFUNDS!) warns them of their fate should they continue on some unknown journey. Handsome Jack makes an appearance, so it’s safe to say he’ll be playing his usual self in this new series as well.
An e-mail via our Telltale Games media contact noted this:
“Join the award-winning studios Gearbox Software and Telltale Games as they unveil the first ever details surrounding their new episodic game series, Tales from the Borderlands, premiering for download later this year.
Learn how the two studios came together, see the first glimpses of how this story will be told, and ask your burning questions about what might be in store in this new tale set on the ruthless, greedy, and unpredictable world of Pandora.”
Both Gearbox and Telltale games will be present at the event at SXSW Gaming Expo in Austin, Texas. It’ll happen on March 8th at 5:30pm on the Geek Stage. There they will announce further details about what this series will be all about. Gearbox President Randy Pitchford, Borderlands 2 writer Anthony Burch, and Borderlands Franchise Director Matthew Armstrong will be on stage with Telltale President Kevin Bruner and designer Harrison Pink.
Telltale Games has had great success with The Walking Dead, and The Wolf Among Us is very much garnishing the same appreciations, so this should be really exciting when it launches. Since we have no known timeframe on a successor to Borderlands 2 (or if there will be one at all), this new series in the Borderlands universe is sure to keep us occupied. Expected to premier “later this year,” this is one thing you might want to keep an eye out for.
